Today is officially the first day of Fall. With temperatures here in the high 80’s (it feels more like the 90’s) it’s definitely not sweater weather yet but for most of our neighbors to the North, the evening are getting cooler and the leaves are just starting to change. Pretty soon I’ll be firing up the oven again (I just can’t bring myself to bake when it’s 100 degrees in the kitchen already) and putting blankets back on the sofa.
As the temperatures cool, it’s time to warm up your home with earth tones of green, gold, brown, brick red and pumpkin oranges. Not only are they great for creating cozy spaces, they’re also perfect for making large rooms feel homey.
Love modern spaces? Even though earth tones lean towards the traditional you can update them by using furniture and decor with clean sharp lines instead of soft curves.
Perfect for Autumn, below are some of my favourite rooms from Houzz along with colour suggestions so you get a similar look in your home. Pair these rich wall paint colours with warm metallics like antique gold, copper, brass or bronze. They’ll add sparkle for visual interest. For trim or woodwork, you can either use a crisp white for contrast or soften with a barely there creamy shade. Some of my favourites are Benjamin Moore Cloud White or Simply White.
