It’s Winter But We’re Dreaming Of Spring (and these pastel paint colours)
With rain, wind and cooler temperatures, Winter in Bermuda can get a bit gloomy – not that I’m going to get a lot of sympathy from people who are shoveling out from a snowstorm in sub-zero temperatures! And honestly, it’s nice to put on a sweater every once in a while. By the middle of February, though, I’m already getting excited for Spring, sunny afternoons and longer days.
These days, my Pinterest boards are filling up with bright spaces in pastel colours! They make me want to throw open the windows and air out the house. Colour can have a significant impact on our mood and well being and the spaces below are sure to cheer you up on even the cloudiest of days. Plus, using a light paint colour on the walls is a great way to make small rooms appear larger!

For ocean spaces you can’t go wrong with a breezy turquoise! Pair a barely-there shade with a rich teal (one of my favourites) or a soft feminine pink. It’s also one of my favourite colours for the bathroom – clean and crisp!
To get this look at home here are three of my favourite shades:
Speaking of pink, just because you’re an adult doesn’t mean you can’t use this fun shade on your walls. The trick is to pick a soft colour with a hint of brown or peach. Pair with furniture and accessories in emerald green or trendy grey.

Lavender can be lovely too! Experiment with this colour in the bathroom paired with marble, white trim and hardware in cool toned metal. For a fun guest bedroom use a light lavender with crisp white sheets, purple fabrics and a touch of green (flowers are the perfect finishing touch).
The best adult lavenders have a hint of grey. Here are two of my favourites:
Yellow is hard color to get right on the walls. Most shades look bright and cheerful on the colour chart but are practically electric on the walls. For a shade that’s sunny but still easy to live with look for light colours with a hint of beige.

TIP: When picking out a new wall colour remember that paint can look darker on the walls than on the swatch. Also, looking at paint colours online is a great way to get inspired but sometimes there can be a big difference between your computer or phone screen and the actual colour.
