Friday Favourites November 24th

With Thanksgiving yesterday this week was particularly hectic but cooking a huge meal for our friends is one of my favourite things to do each year.  I hate to admit it but I prefer Thanksgiving to Christmas!  There’s no pressure to pick the perfect gift or decorate the perfect tree – just a delicious dinner for our friends!  This week’s Friday Favourites focus on Fall, rainy days, and dinner with friends so check them out below and don’t forget to click on the images for sources.

ONE.  In this past shipment, we brought in Kraft paper in rolls so the night before Thanksgiving I started researching easy DIY table setting ideas.  I am super jealous of anyone who has handwriting as tidy but making your own runner for a rustic table setting couldn’t be easier (or more budget friendly!)

TWO.  The past few days have been particularly rainy.  At our house we take of our shoes at the door (it keeps the house so much cleaner) and with all the holiday parties and wine drinking I can’t help sharing this DIY cork shoe mat.

THREE.  Did you notice that these days it gets dark before 6pm?  I love it!  It’s a great excuse to curl up on the couch at the end of the day.  I’m Pinning a lot of dark spaces this time of year.  Are you loving this black dining room as much as I am?  A bright rug is a great way to keep dark walls from feeling sad.

FOUR.  Who said you can’t use a dark colour in a small room?  This rich navy creates a soothing space perfect for relaxing at the end of a busy day.  Told you I’ve been Pinning a lot of dark walls lately!

FIVE.  Okay, not every corner has be dark.  A cheerful colour scheme and compact furniture is a great way to use and brighten that awkward space – like the one under the stairs.  See more of this bright design here.
