Friday Favourites September 21st

One of my favourite ways to unwind after a long day and recharge the creative juices is to put on my pajamas (bedtime is pretty early at our house!) and browse Pinterest. I am constantly amazed at how creative people are with their home projects and how many talented designers (both professional and amateur) there are creating beautiful spaces. There are also MILLIONS of Pins out there – growing exponentially. That’s why I’ve started a weekly blog post highlighting FIVE of my favourite spaces, projects, or decor ideas. For sources click on each image to learn more and don’t forget to Pin YOUR favourites for later.
ONE: First of all, I’m a totally jealous of anyone who has handwriting as nice as this. After decades of typing, I think my hands have all but forgotten how to write legibly. A giant chalkboard is not only a great way to keep your family organized but also the perfect place to display your artistic talent. Finally, I love the message!
TWO: We have given ourselves five years to save up for our dream kitchen. We’re packing lunches, skipping vacations and limiting unnecessary purchases so we have a updated functional space that fits our needs and style. On our wish list are new cabinets in a rich colour much like this stunning green.
THREE: If you want to update your bathroom on a budget invest in new hardware and fixtures. It’s amazing what a difference new knobs, faucets and lights can make in a space. Metal rusts quickly in damp environments like ours and the extra humidity from the shower doesn’t help. Instead of the traditional chrome why not try a warm gold instead?
FOUR: Remember making those paper chains when you were little? Get ready for an upgraded version! Make your own large scale artwork with colourful paper, glue and a large dowel. This DIY project is all grown up!
FIVE: I love this space for a couple of reasons. First, you don’t need a lot of room to create a tidy entry to keep your family’s belongings organized. Secondly, a ceiling doesn’t have to be white. It’s a great (but often forgotten) opportunity to add a pop of colour. I love this rich blue!
There’s more where this came from! See thousand of our decorating and design Pins on our boards here. If you liked this post don’t forget to check back next week to see what’s new on the blog but if you can’t wait our Facebook page is updated daily with amazing spaces, design tips and DIY projects.
