WELCOME TO BERMUDA'S OLDEST PAINT STORE

My Go-To Paint Colours – Spring 2017 Edition (PART 1)

There are literally THOUSANDS of paint colours but let’s face it – some are going to be more popular than others.  While I really love Benjamin Moore Sweet Vibrations I completely understand it’s not for every taste and every space.  I’m pretty sure if I tried to use it at home I would be sleeping in the garage!

That’s why I’ve put together a collection of some of my recent favourites.  They will work in most spaces and compliment a wide variety of surfaces, furniture and accessories.  Click on the images to be redirected to the sources and don’t forget to Pin YOUR favourites for later.

First, let start with my go-to colour.  If you say “GRAY” I will answer with a resounding Benjamin Moore Gray Owl 2137-60.   It’s light enough to use all over but don’t disappear against white trim and woodwork.  With a slight hint of earthy green, it’s warm and comfortable so it’s perfect for living rooms and bedroom.  Here are some great examples from Houzz.

For a gray on the cool side  you can’t go wrong with Benjamin Moore Whitestone or it’s lighter version, Genesis White.  It’s crisp and fresh with a slight blue undertone.  Both these colours are great for contemporary/modern spaces.

And no conversation about grey would be complete without Benjamin Moore Stonington Gray.  It’s deeper and perfect for creating moody relaxing spaces.  It also a great compliment to marble in in the bathroom.

While I love grey I also understand that you can’t paint every room gray all the time. If you’re looking for that perfect neutral that’s NOT gray I would suggest Benjamin Moore Seapearl.  It’s a winner nine times out of ten, especially if you want to use one colour through the entire interior.  It’s light and warm with a slight beige undertone but will still contrast with white woodwork and trim.

Benjamin Moore Ocean Air reminds me of those first few weeks in Spring when you throw open the windows to a cool gentle breeze.  It’s perfect for bathrooms, laundry rooms or any other space you want to feel open and airy. TIP: Why not try it on the ceiling?

For a darker version try Benjamin Moore Woodlawn Blue.  It has the same airy feel but with more depth it’s better for larger spaces with more natural light.

Did you know that since green is most dominant colour in our environment (think grass and trees) we find it naturally relaxing?  When we repainted our apartment kitchen we chose Benjamin Moore Spanish Olive because it coordinated so well with the light wood cabinets.   Here is it in the bedroom!

For a more defined green I love Benjamin Moore Guilford Green – the 2015 colour of the year.   It’s cleaner but won’t overwhelm a room.

Navy is also a great soothing shade.  I like to think of it as that perfect pair of jeans – comfortable enough for a Sunday afternoon but throw on some high heels and you’ve got a killer evening outfit.  Benjamin Moore Hale Navy is definitely an all around favourite but in low light spaces it can look almost black.  That’s why I start the navy conversation with Benjamin Moore Kensington Blue instead.

Hale Navy? Here it is!
