5 Ways To Use Christmas Lights After The Holidays

Last weekend we put up our Christmas tree. I love every part of the process except untangling what seems like miles of string lights. No matter how carefully we try to store them after the holidays, they’re always a disaster the following year.
There’s no doubt, however, that those twinkling Christmas lights make every room feel cozier. So why should we pack them away every January? Not only would we spare ourselves the frustration of annual untangling, we could enjoy their warm twinkle all year long!
In today’s digital world, most of our memories are stored on our phones, or social media accounts like Instagram or Facebook. This bedroom string light display makes us want to print EVERYTHING! It’s a great way to show off your favourite snapshots AND give the bedroom a soft glow. The more the merrier!
Multiply the light from Christmas strands by wrapping them around a mirror frame. The reflective surface will bounce that light all around your space!
Get creative by creating a simple form like this cloud from wire or those metal dry cleaning hangers (they ARE good for something). How cute would this be in the bedroom?
You don’t need to spend a fortune on artwork to create stunning home decor. Take a plain white canvas (the larger the better), decorate to fit your home’s colour scheme, then punch holes for Christmas lights to create a light-up statement piece. Plus, it’s a great way to add some light to an otherwise dark corner.
After all those holiday parties, there are sure to be some empty wine bottles hanging around. Use this tutorial to turn them into beautiful table decorations that will last long into the new year.
Let’s face it – plain Christmas lights aren’t very exciting but it’s easy to give them a whole new look with simple ping pong balls. Cut holes in the ball, insert the light and watch as it’s diffused through the milky globe. TIP: These will work better with lights that don’t get hot like LEDs.
