My Favourite COLOUR COMBINATIONS

There are thousands of paint colours and even more combinations. It can certainly feel overwhelming, especially when you’re picking the decor for your entire house. There are, however, certain colours that go very well together and some pairings may surprise you!
One of the best tools (and one we use most often) is the colour wheel. I’ll skip the boring lecture on primary, secondary, and tertiary colours and skip straight to some of my favourite colour schemes.
Opposites attract! That’s why blue and orange, which are opposite each other on the colour wheel, go so well together. Blue can be quite cold when used all over but a pop of orange really warms up your space. Likewise, orange is very high energy and fiery but blue accents will balance the room with a cool touch. Below are some of my favourite spaces so flip through and click on the images for more info.

When choosing blue and orange in wall colour, pick the same intensity in each shade so that one doesn’t overpower the other.

We love paint (obviously!) but there are other ways to combine blue and orange. Use it in fabrics for a pop of colour in a neutral space.
What else goes with blue? Try green! It’s fresh, bright and perfect for spring.

The soft blue wall colour keeps the room feeling open and breeze and contrasts with a rich green in fabrics and furniture.

White rooms don’t have to be boring. Use the clean background to highlight colourful fabrics and furniture like these couches and pillows.

Want to make a statement? Emerald green and navy blue make a stunning pair with black trim and light walls.
It’s no secret that I LOVE grey. If you prefer your home to have a fun modern feel try using grey and yellow together!

Yellow can be a very sharp colour so in a space where you want to relax, like the bedroom, a little goes a long way.

Flowers are a great way to add a pop of colour without a lot of commitment. If you WANT to make a commitment try appliances in a funky colour like this stove.
I love crisp white furniture, cabinets or trim and gold hardware is a great way to add a glamorous touch. White can feel quite cold, especially when you have an entire kitchen full of cabinets but gold pulls and handles can make a big difference.

High contrast colour combinations like black and white are a sure way to make a statement. Throw in a dash of gold in furniture and lighting for a beautiful glow.

Love DIY? Spray old mirror frames with a glittering gold and warm up white walls in the bedroom or living room.
Want to add a feminine touch to your home? You can’t go wrong with pink! It’s another combination that makes me instantly think of Spring.

We love the oriental feel in this cheerful pink living room. Green pillows and fresh flowers make great accents.

Feeling brave? If you’re not afraid of colour try this bold wall shade paired with soft pink accents.
