PAINTING CHECKLIST – Be Prepared

Getting ready to paint?  Think of it like planning a dinner for a special occasion.  There are few things more frustrating than being in the middle of cooking and realizing you have run out salt.  That’s why I’ve learned to make a shopping list before heading to the grocery store.

Planning a painting project is very similar.  As we try to make the most of each day, it’s easy to rush out of the paint store without purchasing a brush and get home only to realize you have nothing to actually paint the wall WITH.  That’s where a list comes in handy.

My Happy Painting Checklist not only has the supplies you’ll need to complete your project, it also asks basic questions about your needs.  Answering these will help us pick the right paint and materials to make sure you go home with everything you need from start to finish.

Before heading to the paint store, take a few minutes to print the list (link below), take inventory of supplies you already have at home, and check off any items you’re missing and need to purchase.

If you’re picking a new paint colour, take a couple pictures of your space and don’t forget to bring samples of flooring, tiles, fabrics, or inspirational photos.

Need a specialty paint?  Think about what’s most important to you and your family.  Do you need a zero VOC paint with no harsh odors, a mold and mildew proof paint or a waterproofing primer?  If you have any questions, write them down!
