Colour Combination – Gold And Gray

The most interesting rooms are rarely perfect and some of the most stunning colour combinations are usually the unexpected ones. For example, colours opposite each other on the colour wheel (one of the handiest tools when planning your design) make a great pair (think blue and orange).
Grey in one of my favourite contemporary wall paint colours but it can sometimes make a room feel cold. To warm up your space, add metallic gold. Not only does it contrast its coolness, it also adds a bit of sparkle for visual interest. To finish the look add fabrics, blankets or pillows in a light cream.
Some of my favourite wall paint colours to pair with grey are:
- Benjamin Moore Chelsea Gray HC-168
- Benjamin Moore Graystone 1475
- Benjamin Moore Harbor Gray AC-25
- Benjamin Moore Gray Owl 2137-60
Sometimes it’s hard to envision such a complex combination. That’s why I put together some of my favourite spaces below.

Love this and glad someone else thinks that gold and gray work together! I love the contemporary feel of gray, but often think it is too cold when paired with other cool tones. Gold is warm, timeless, and elegant. These two colors work beautifully together.
Agreed! I was so inspired by all the silver and gold holiday decorations. Thank you for visiting!
LOVE this combination! x
Thank you for visiting! I love the juxtaposition of the warm gold and cool grey. I first noticed it in holiday decorations but it translates really well to home decor too!
Great post! This one of my favorite color combos. Photos are beautiful.
