TWO TONE – Horizontal Colour

An accent wall is a great way to add a strong colour to your home without overwhelming the entire room. While I love creating a feature wall a two tone design is a great alternative, especially when no single wall stands out.
There are endless colour combinations but I prefer a darker colour on the bottom (also helpful for hiding dirt marks!) and a lighter colour on top. If you’re feeling adventurous pick colours like blue and grey or green and beige.
A white ceiling can create too much contrast so consider taking the lighter colour all the way up to the ceiling (or get it mixed half strength to get a toned down version).
Just like with colour combinations, experiment with height. Try a 36″ chair rail height or a 36″ band around the top of your room. A little white trim can really bring out your colour scheme, create contrast and add visual interest.
