Cozy At Home – Fall Decorating

Bermuda is certainly a very beautiful place and I am very fortunate to live here. Even though the weather is slightly cooler (though not quite sweater weather yet) , I do miss Fall in my native New England. However, no matter where you live, it’s easy to bring the cozy colours of the season into your home.
Some of my favourite ways to decorate involve natural elements like twigs, leaves, weathered woods and berries. Leaving out real edible items like pumpkins, nuts or sweets is an open invitation for hoards of insects, but these days the fake versions can be just as beautiful. Weekends are perfect for DIY with mason jars, some rough palette wood and paint. Try using an old mirror or picture frame as a festive chalkboard decorated with a seasonal theme (you can reuse it for other holidays!).
TIP: Want your house to smell like Fall too? Skip the artificial air fresheners and make your own by slowly heating a pot with:
5 cups water
2 navel oranges, peeled
1 apple, sliced in half
3 cinnamon sticks
3 star anise
1 teaspoon-sized knob of fresh ginger
1 teaspoon cardamom pods
1 teaspoon whole cloves
1/4 teaspoon dried orange peel
DONT FORGET TO KEEP ADDING WATER WHEN IT EVAPORATES!
