DIY With Shipping Palettes

Here at the paint store there’s never a shortage of wooden shipping palettes and we’re always happy to donate.  With a little bit of work, this inexpensive wood can be turned into beautiful items for your home!

Shipping palettes are very rough.  When handling, a pair of work gloves will protect your hands from splitters.   Before you start, remove any loose or broken nails and wood pieces.  Then sand WELL.  Start with a rough sandpaper (like 60-80 grit) and progressively make your way up to a finer grit for a smooth finish.   After you’re done building, you can paint, stain or whitewash your finished piece to match any decor.

So cute and such great ideas! I love the texture. Homes don’t really have enough texture let only texture on the walls or vertical space. Nice post.
